Winner's Blake Volmer picks Black Hills State for college basketball
Feb. 16—WINNER, S.D. — Blake Volmer, of Winner, announced his commitment to play college basketball at Black Hills State University via Twitter on Thursday.
The 6-foot-3 senior guard was a first-team all-state selection in Class A last season after averaging 16.6 point, 8.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. This season, Volmer is putting up 19.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals for the Warriors, who are 17-1 as of Feb. 15.
Volmer is joining a BHSU program on a meteoric rise under fifth-year coach Ryan Thompson. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the program's first Division II national semifinal last season and are ranked No. 2 nationally in the most recent NABC coaches poll.
