GALESBURG — Three students from Churchill Junior High School are the winners of the 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest.

The essay contest is sponsored by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee. The committee gives an essay topic to Jr. high/middle school students every year in conjunction with MLK breakfast.

This 2022 winners were:

  1. Neave Frisque

  2. Bracken Foust

  3. Maddie Michaels

The first and second place winners read their essays at the breakfast on Jan. 17. The last two MLK events have been virtual due to the pandemic.

Cash awards are: $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place.
