He won four All-City titles when he swam for the Spartans. Andy Fredenburg has won his first city crown now that he is coaching the Spartans.

Lakeview won the annual All-City Boys Swimming and Diving Meet for the 31st straight year, at Harper Creek High School on Saturday.

Lakeview had 570 team points, with Harper Creek second with 428 and Battle Creek Central third.

Fredenburg, the first-year leader for Lakeview after taking over for longtime coach Kyle Lott, is a Spartan graduate and knows how important it is to win the All-City event for his program.

"I swam here from 2005-08, and we won those four years and now I get to win one as a coach," Fredenburg said. "This is always a fun meet for us. We don't get to see Harper Creek in duals or league anymore, so this was the first time we got to see Harper Creek and that was fun.

"It's been a great season and this only adds to it. We have a lot of great seniors, who love to race, and they had a good day today."

Senior leaders Cameron Lott and Nathan Pawlowicz each took four first places, winning two each as individuals, and finishing first on two relay teams.

"It is super important for us to win the All-City," Lott said. "As a senior, you want to do what you can to make sure you help your team win this."

Lott took first in the 100 backstroke in a time of 56.90 and was first in the 100 butterfly in 55.53.

Pawlowicz won the 200 IM in 2:02.15 and won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.87.

Lakeview also won the 200 medley relay with the team of Lott, Pawlowicz, Tully Davis and Owen Baum in 1:42.20. The Lakeview 400 relay team of Daniel Borozan, Dane Schiller, Lott and Pawlowicz took first in 3:26.44.

Lakeview won all three relays, also taking first in the 200 free relay with the team of Baum, Tyler Youngs-Ball, Borozan and Dane Schiller in a time of 1:34.88.

Other individual firsts going to Lakeview came from Borozan, who won the 200 free in 1:53.17, and Baum, who was the All-City champ in the 50 free in 23.00.

"We swam well today. It was exciting to win," Pawlowicz said. "It's really exciting to see Harper be such a good team, also, especially in those relays. We are all really good friends, so it was good to compete against them and then hug and shake hands after. It was a really good experience."

Harper Creek, without one of its top swimmers in Justin LaFleur and head coach due to illness, did have some impressive performance as well.

Cole Patty took first in the 100 freestyle in 50.82 and twin brother Andrew Patty was first in the 500 freestyle in 5:14.73. The Beavers' Kevin Tiles was All-City champ in diving with a score of 222.35.

Beyond the first places, Lakeview was able to pull away in the team point total due to its depth.

Getting second-place finishes from Borozan (100 butterfly), Baum (100 free), Eamon Foljahn (100 breaststroke), Alexander Byrd (diving) and from freshman Christian Hancock (500 free, 200 free) was important for the Spartans.

"Having depth was big for us," Fredenburg said. "Harper Creek has a lot of talented kids... so having depth really helped us."
