The Powerball has exploded to a $1.55 billion jackpot after no one matched all five numbers and the Powerball on Saturday.

The grand prize is now the fourth-largest jackpot in U.S. history — and third-largest in game history, according to the Texas Lottery. Its cash value is worth nearly $679.8 million.

If no one wins tonight, the jackpot will balloon to $1.725 billion.

Powerball winning numbers for Monday, Oct. 9

The winning numbers for Monday night's drawing were 16-34-46-55-67 and the Powerball was 14, with a Power Play of 3X.

How to play Powerball Texas

To play Powerball, you first select five white ball numbers. These five numbers will be between one and 69. Then, pick one "Powerball," or red ball, number. This number will be between one and 26.

You could also choose to have the lottery machine randomly select your numbers for you.

For an extra dollar, you may choose to "power play," which multiplies all non-grand prize winnings by a factor of 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10.

Powerball drawings are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:12 p.m. CT, but ticket sales close at 9 p.m. CT.

What were the Powerball winning numbers for Saturday, Oct. 7

The winning numbers for Monday night's drawing were 47-54-57-60-65 and the Powerball was 19, with a Power Play of 3X.

No one was lucky enough to win the grand prize. Two lucky Texans, however, won a $1 million prize.

What were the largest jackpots won in lottery history?

The last highest jackpot for a national lottery drawing was last year, with a record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot being won in California on Nov. 7, 2022.

The biggest Mega Millions jackpot was won on Oct. 23, 2018 in South Carolina. It was worth $1.537 billion.
