WINNING STYLE: Bartlesville club sweeps titles in gymnastics meet
Up we go into the wild gold yonder.
That could have been the theme song for the Bartlesville Gymnastics Club during the recent Airborne meet in Sapulpa.
While soaring through a higher universe that almost all their competition, the Bartlesville girls seized five individual All-Around championships, four team titles and 23 individual event crowns.
That adds up to 28 gold medals and flight of domination.
Bartlesville won the team honors in Levels 6, 8, 10 and X-cel Gold.
In Level 8 and Level 10, Bartlesville blew away the rest of the field -- winning Level 10 supremacy by more than 60 points.
"The first weekend in January is always a hard competition. … However this is one our favorite meets as we consider Airborne Gymnastics as our sister club," said Bartlesville Gymnastics Club Executive Director Lorrie Bertolet. "They were there for us during the COVID shutout and we will forever be grateful for their friendship."
Bartlesville coaches and girls are excited about the potential of this season, Bertolet continued.
Next up, the club competes in Knoxville, Tenn.
"I am very proud of all the teams and coaches," Bertolet said about the club. "We have a great system here in Bartlesville and enjoy giving our athletes different opportunities to excel in the sport they love."
The five club athletes who won individual All-Around titles in Sapulpa were: Isa Highfield (Level 10), Lorelei Weikle (Level 6, Jr. A), Brenlyn Simmons (Level 6, Sr.), Kinlee Littleford (Level 8, Jr.) and Timberly Covert (XG, Jr.).
