Winooski's Mobil gas station is being rebuilt and rebranded as a Maplefields

The former Mobil gas station on East Allen Street by the Interstate 89 interchange is getting an upgrade.

R. L. Valley, owner of the gas station, is rebuilding the gas station as a Maplefields convenient store and pumping station, which will offer more food options and a more aesthetic look. Currently under construction, the company estimates the new store will open sometime in October.

The new gas station will have a 4,000 square-foot convenience store with two stories (second floor will be used for offices and storage), which is over 3,000 square feet more than the previous store. It will also feature 12 pumping stations, unchanged from the number at the Mobil. The pumps and the store will be configurated differently on the lot and the 22 parking spaces will be better organized than the Mobil parking was, the company said.

Maplefields is a brand of upscale gas stations created by R. L. Valley. The company opened the first in Woodstock in 1998 and now 40 out of their nearly 50 convenient stores across New York, Vermont and New Hampshire have been rebuilt as Maplefields. The new location in Winooski will offer hot foods including burgers and breakfast sandwiches, made-to-order options and grab-and-go items. The Maplefields website boasts that their stores have high-quality coffee and clean bathrooms which always have fresh flowers.
