Winter Lodge Debuts At Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Summer brought Lena’s Oasis in a parking deck. Fall introduced Lena’s Beer Garden on the patio. Now Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap is debuting a new concept for winter.

The Loft at Lena’s Winter Lodge opened on Dec. 16, aiming to bring an innovative, socially-distant experience to diners this winter. The menu includes a dinner menu as well as Winter Lodge specials such as appetizers, entrées, and desserts.

The Yates family, owners of Lena's, decided to build on the success of Lena's Oasis and Lena's Beer Garden with another new experience. The 4,500-square-foot second story space above the main restaurant has been transformed into an Aspen lodge-inspired winter haven. The owners partnered with REVOLUTION and Christine Godsey of CG&CO Events to design the space, aiming to remind diners of the ski lodge atmosphere that they may be missing this year due to the pandemic.

In addition to participating in the ALX Promise program to meet and exceed COVID-19 safety guidelines, Lena's has installed disinfection technology fans to kill 99.99 percent of airborne pathogens, including the virus that causes COVID-19. The space also has open-air windows to let fresh air in, and the HVAC equipment is programmed to bring additional fresh air in from outside.

With colder temperatures here to stay for the season, the Yates family worked to delivery The Loft at Lena's Winter Lodge in time for the holidays.

"What better way is there to give back to our amazingly resilient and supportive community than by creating a safe, charming, and fun experience for people to enjoy with their friends, family, and loved ones?” said Jason Yates, owner of Lena’s, in a statement. "Come out and enjoy this unbelievable, safe space with us and stay tuned for our future experiences to come at The Loft at Lena’s."

The Winter Lodge won't be the end of the concepts. The Yates family plans to keep the Loft at Lena's with new ideas.

"There is more to come! The Winter Lodge is only the first of several future themes that will transform the space at The Loft at Lena’s," said the Yates family in a statement. Like the Winter Lodge, future concepts will seek to transport diners to another place as an escape from the daily realities and challenges of the pandemic era.
