Here’s what’s on the new winter menu at this plant-based South End restaurant
Alchemy Restaurant & Bar at C3 Lab — a plant-based Charlotte restaurant that focuses on locally sourcing ingredients — has unveiled a new winter menu.
Chef Ken Aponte has reimagined some familiar dishes to create vegan versions of pot pie and scallops with creative twists, ensuring the menu features something for all dietary needs and preferences. (Don’t worry meat eaters, there are options for you, too.)
Mixologist Angelica Belo has also updated Alchemy’s bar menu, adding a line of mocktails, including:
• Blank Canvas — abstinence spice, apple, maple, fall spice syrup, aquafaba and cinnamon
• Not Carded — abstinence citrus, raspberry, lemon juice, orgeat
• Onyx — abstinence citrus, blackberry, lime juice, simple syrup, aquafaba and activated charcoal.
Here are a few highlights from the new winter menu:
Cucumber Scallops with Spaghetti Squash (vegan, gluten free)
The cucumber dish features blistered tomatoes, broccolini and tomato romesco.
Filet
Alchemy pairs this Filet over blue cheese and mushroom tortellini with peas, Diane cream sauce and black trumpet mushrooms.
Jackfruit Cake (vegan)
The Jackfruit Cake is dressed with a plant-based remoulade, arugula, tomatoes, lemon vinaigrette and micro cilantro.
Lion’s Mane Pot Pie (vegan)
This warm comfort dish puts together broccolini, roasted corn, sauteed lion’s mane mushroom, red bell peppers and fingerling potatoes. It’s topped with a house-made pie crust and fried lion’s mane mushrooms.
Maple Calabrian Brussels Sprouts (vegan, shown above)
These oven-roasted Brussels sprouts are tossed in Calabrian chili maple sauce.
Smoked Steak Alchemy Burger
This one’s for the meat eaters: The burger features Humbolt Fog cheese, port-glazed mushrooms, arugula, crispy vinegar fries and tomato aioli. A vegan version is also available.
