Winter storm warning, winter weather advisory issued for several north Ga. counties
A winter storm is expected to bring widespread snow and ice across the south, including parts of far north Georgia over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
Snow is expected to start in the north Georgia mountains by Monday morning.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Ashley Kramlich said that as of Sunday evening, the winter weather advisory has been expanded to include more counties in north Georgia from Monday at 1 a.m. to Tuesday morning.
Kramlich said on WSB Tonight at 11 p.m. that we are already seeing a wintry mix in the counties bordering the GA/TN line.
You can expect a light glaze of ice from freezing rain for counties in purple including cities like Rome, Calhoun, Ellijay, and Blairsville.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday for Catoosa, Dade, Fannin, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield Counties.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Bartow, Chattooga, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Dawson, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Lumpkin, Polk, Pickens, Towns, Union, and White Counties.
Some light wintry mix is possible in the northwest metro, but little to no impacts are expected.
Kramlich said it will be dangerously cold on Wednesday morning when wind chills temperatures will be near zero to -5 degrees.
