A winter storm that's expected to arrive Wednesday could dump more than 4 inches of snow on southeastern Michigan.

Snow is expected to start Wednesday morning and continue throughout the day as a low-pressure system moves through the area, according to the National Weather Service office near Pontiac. Areas south of Interstate 69 are expected to get more snow, with amounts increasing closer to the Ohio state line. Most of Lenawee and Monroe counties are in an area with a 60% to 70% chance of getting more than 4 inches, while an area of southern Lenawee County is in an area that has a 70% to 80% chance of getting more than 4 inches.

The weather service's forecast for both Monroe and Lenawee counties as of early Monday afternoon called for about 5 inches of snowfall by Wednesday night along with gusty 20- to 30-mph northeast-north winds that will reduce visibility and cause blowing and drifting of snow. Temperatures are expected to be about 30-32 degrees all day.

A winter storm watch had not been issued for Monroe or Lenawee counties as of early Monday afternoon, but Hillsdale and Branch counties were under a winter storm watch along with several counties in northwest Ohio and northern Indiana.
