Winter weather advisories issued for much of NJ. Here's the latest Friday forecast

New Jersey residents are bracing for Friday, as winter weather advisories have been issued for most of the state.

The National Weather Service said significant snowfall is expected on Friday, bringing varying amounts of snow to different regions, with a focus in central New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

How many inches of snow will NJ get?

Weather service meteorologist Michael Musher said the forecast predicts accumulations ranging from 2 to 6 inches. Specifically, Sussex County is expected to receive 2 to 3 inches of snow, Parsippany 3 to 4 inches, and Trenton 4 to 6 inches. These estimates provide a general overview, and actual accumulations may vary based on local weather patterns.

Other estimates include 2.6 inches for West Milford and Paramus and 3.1 inches in Newark.

When will it snow on Friday?

The snowfall is forecast to commence between 4 and 7 a.m. on Friday, affecting the morning hours and potentially causing disruptions to travel plans.

Peak impact from the snow is expected between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. before it tapers off, the National Weather Service said, so the evening commute may also be affected.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and plan accordingly, especially those with early morning commitments.
