A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday for most of northern Ohio including Summit, Stark, Portage, Wayne, Holmes, Ashtabula, Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Additional snow accumulations of up to 3 inches are expected with totals including this morning’s snowfall reaching up to 6 inches.

The National Weather Service said snowfall rates of around an inch per hour were expected in most areas through 11:30 a.m., and snow will continue through the rest of the day before tapering off tonight. Visibility may drop between one-half and 1 mile at times in heavier bands of snow, and slick and slippery conditions have been reported across most of northern Ohio.

At around 10 a.m., a power outage was reported in downtown Akron which was impacting several buildings and traffic lights. The Akron Main Library was among businesses closed due to the outage. The Akron Police Department reported that power was out and phone lines were down at the station but that 911 and non-emergency numbers were still fully operational.
