Update: Washington County Public Schools closed due to storm, others delayed
We knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Winter weather forecasts are leading to closings and cancellations in the Interstate 81 corridor.

Here's a list of closings we've received so far. This list will be updated throughout the day, so be sure to check back often.
Hagerstown, Washington County and Maryland
Washington County Public Schools
Washington County Public Schools will be closed Thursday. WCPS employees: Code Orange
City of Hagerstown trash collection
Trash, recycling and yard waste collection in the city of Hagerstown will be delayed one day for the rest of this week for zones D, E and F due to the storm. If you have questions contact the Engineering Department at 301-739-8577, ext. 125.
Washington County Courts
Washington County Circuit and District courts will open at 10 a.m. Thursday, with staffs to report at 9:30 a.m. Circuit Court dockets will begin at 10 a.m. In District Court, 8:30 a.m. dockets will be heard at 10 a.m.
Pennsylvania Dutch Market
Due to inclement weather, the Pennsylvania Dutch Market will open at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Family Healthcare of Hagerstown
Family Healthcare of Hagerstown will remain closed Thursday.
Washington County Government
Washington County Government will have liberal leave Thursday for nonessential employees. Employees who are designated as essential are expected to perform their duties as normal. Employees who can telework should report at their usual time.
University System of Maryland at Hagerstown
The University System of Maryland at Hagerstown is closed Thursday due to inclement weather.
Meritus Health
All Meritus Total Rehab Care locations (Meritus Medical Plaza, Robinwood Professional Center and Frederick) will open at 10 a.m.
Meritus Wound Center will open at 11 a.m.
Aside from notices of closures and cancellations sent to local media, Meritus Health will post them on its website at www.meritushealth.com/patients-visitors/public-notice.
Washington County Chamber of Commerce B.A.S.H.
Thursday's B.A.S.H. from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Maryland Theatre has been postponed due to inclement weather. Another B.A.S.H. at the theater is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 16. Those who have already registered for Thursday's event will automatically receive a credit for use at the February B.A.S.H. Please maddie@hagerstown.org in advance if you cannot attend on that date, and the chamber will issue a refund.
United Way of Washington County open house
The United Way of Washington County open house scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the nonprofit's Hagerstown office is canceled.
Mount St. Mary's University
Due to the forecasted inclement weather, Mount St. Mary’s University will delay opening until 10 a.m. Thursday for the Emmitsburg & Frederick campuses, the ARCC and the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Chambersburg, Waynesboro, Greencastle and Franklin County, Pa.
Greencastle-Antrim School District
The Greencastle-Antrim School District will be operating on a two-hour delay Thursday. School officials will reassess conditions in the morning.
Waynesboro Area School District
Waynesboro Area School District will be closed Thursday due to icy road conditions in the mountainous areas and side streets. As noted in the 2022-23 school calendar, the snow day will be made up on Monday, Jan. 2.
Chambersburg Area School District
All Chambersburg Area School District schools and district offices will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday due to impending winter weather.
Tuscarora School District
Due to icy conditions on the back roads and especially the mountain, Tuscarora schools are closed Thursday. The day will be made up on Jan. 2 as noted in the approved school calendar.
Martinsburg and West Virginia
Blue Ridge Community and Technical College
All Blue Ridge Community and Technical College on campus activities and classes are canceled Thursday. Remote work/instruction continues. Emergency employees should report to their supervisors.
Berkeley County Schools
Berkeley County schools, including pre-K, will be closed Thursday. Evening activities are also canceled.
Martinsburg VA Medical Center
The Martinsburg VA Medical Center is postponing the PACT Act open house and discussion scheduled for Thursday. The new date will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Post Theater.
Shenandoah Community Health
All locations of Shenandoah Community Health will open at 1 p.m. Thursday due to inclement weather. Prescheduled telehealth appointments remain and patients will be contacted to reschedule on-site visits.
