While the National Weather Service cautions those travelling outside the city Monday night and early Tuesday morning, it seems like Louisville will miss any major impact from the incoming winter storm.

Louisville's metro area will likely see some rain late Monday evening, but temperatures are expected to remain in the low to mid-30s, meteorologist Ron Steve said.

Steve said there is still a possibility for rain showers to turn into snow overnight if the anticipated precipitation is vigorous enough. If snow does fall, it would begin sometime around midnight and end by 3 a.m. Tuesday.

No major impact is expected for Louisville, though Steve said residents should use caution if they're traveling on roadways to nearby areas like Elizabethtown or Bardstown.

With central Kentucky and parts of Southern Indiana making up the impacted region, the National Weather Service has not determined yet where the heaviest accumulation will be.

Steve urged residents to regularly check weather updates as forecast changes could appear throughout the day.
