'Winter WUNDerland' dinner, concert set for Dec. 3 at UND's Gorecki Alumni Center

Nov. 18—The UND College of Arts and Sciences is hosting its "Winter WUNDderland Candlelight Dinner and Private Concert" on Dec. 3 at the Gorecki Alumni Center on campus. Reservations are due Friday, Nov. 19.

The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person. Sponsorships for tables of 10 are available.

The fundraising event is a benefit for the UND Concert Choir, conducted by Dean Jilek, director of choral activities in the UND Music Department. Jilek creates the program and conducts the choir. The last time the event was held in person was in 2019, due to the pandemic.

A beloved annual tradition for many in the area, the "Winter WUNDerland" event is "a magical evening of good music, good food and good company, all for a good cause," said Tracy Backstrom, director of alumni and external relations for the UND College of Arts and Sciences.

"The holiday-themed private concert and dinner features and supports the UND Concert Choir and has historically sold out quickly," Backstrom said.

This is an important year for raising funds, Jilek said. "As we move through and adapt to pandemic circumstances, the choir is beginning to travel and perform again. With alumni and friend support, we'll be able to provide ample opportunities for student experiences."

Backstrom noted that a separate concert, also titled "Winter WUNDerland," is planned for 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Chester Fritz Auditorium. However, the Dec. 3 evening's "Winter WUNDerland" is a more formal event, including dinner, at the Gorecki Alumni Center, 3501 University Ave.
