It's Winterfest week at Sturgis High School

STURGIS — Sturgis High School will vote another Winterfest king and queen into the history books by Friday, Jan. 27.

The annual tradition at SHS will once again see students take part in festivities throughout the week and culminate in the announcing of the king and queen on Friday. After all votes are tabulated, the announcement will come inbetween the varsity basketball games on Friday night against Paw Paw.

Members of the Winterfest Court for the boys this year include Hunter Kosmerick, Ethan Kent, Tyler Welch, Damian Avila, Efrain Montoya, Trevin Bathgate, Walter Ebert and Aidan Whitehead.

Members fo the Winterfest Court for the girls this year include Ashley Sutter, Megan Hecht, Emily Perez-Bucio, Ashley Correa, Tess Scheske, Sarah Cropsey, Kelsye Smith and Trisha Fontanilla.

There were powder puff volleyball games between the classes on Sunday evening to kick off the week. On Monday, high schoolers were encouraged to take part in pajama day. On Tuesday, "Cradle to the grave" was the theme for the day. Seniors were selected to by elders, juniors middle-aged people, sophomores toddlers, freshmen babies and even teachers as teens.

Adam Sandler Day was picked as the "Dress up day" theme along with both Red Flag (with appropriate clothing) and finally Orange and Black day on Friday to showcase school pride.

The basketball games will see Sturgis host Paw Paw on Friday night. The girls' game is scheduled first, it tips off at 6 p.m. There is also scheduled to be a Snowball semi-formal dance on Saturday night.
