BOYNTON BEACH — A new adventure for kids — and adults who still have the kid in them — is coming to Boynton Beach in December when indoor adventure park Sky Zone opens its 21st location in Florida inside the Catalina Shoppes shopping center.

Sky Zone offers trampolines on the floors — and walls — for a completely immersive jumping experience. It feeds into the fan frenzy of shows like “American Ninja Warrior,” “American Gladiator,” and “Wipeout,” with ninja courses, sky joust, and other activities such as air courts.

Sky Zone CEO Elizabeth Blair said the company specifically targeted Boynton Beach because Boynton has "a high number of young families in a 20-minute drive time radius and its great visibility from North Congress Avenue."

The park will be similar to Urban Air Adventure Park, which opened in Wellington in 2019.

Blair said Los Angeles-based Sky Zone has seen “tremendous population growth” in Boynton Beach, specifically in its target age demographic. Additionally, the city is a vacation destination for families and a retirement-community city in which families frequently visit grandparents and other relatives.

“Sky Zone is America’s active play destination for kids and kids at heart, and Boynton Beach is a perfect market for our target audience, families with children 10 and under,” Blair said.

The shopping center is located at 729 N. Congress Ave.

“While lots of first-generation parks had activities where you need massive upper body strength to enjoy the attractions, we are constantly innovating to give kids fun and safe spaces to climb, jump and dodge while developing life skills and confidence,” Blair said.

But the park won't be limited to kids' activities.

“Visiting parks these past few weeks, I have seen tons of dads jumping with their kids. It is a great way to combine physical activity with parenting time,” she said.

Sky Zone offers children’s birthday, sports team, and school parties, as well as team-building activities and holiday parties for companies and organizations. Patrons can rent a portion of the park or do a private rental of the entire facility.

Memberships are available for frequent jumpers, which includes discounts and admission to members-only events. This is especially popular among homeschooling families looking for ways to incorporate physical fitness into their curriculum.

What about safety concerns inside Sky Zone?

When trampolines and other physical activities are involved, there is a risk of injury so all guests must sign a waiver online or upon entry. A parent or guardian must sign a waiver on behalf of jumpers under the age of 18.

Sky Zone has safety rules posted throughout the park and the “flight crew” enforce the regulations to prevent injuries. One safety measure they take is separating jumpers by age and size. There also is a designated area for toddlers and Drop Zones to provide cushioned landings.

Sky Zone expects to create between 45 and 65 new jobs closer to their planned December opening in Boynton Beach.

“A position at Sky Zone is an excellent opportunity for teenagers looking for their first job,” Blair said. “We recently hired a park manager in Ohio who vividly remembers jumping and attending birthday parties in that same park as a youngster.”
