Wisconsin election, 36th Assembly: Mursau is on his way to a 10th term
Republican Jeff Mursau holds an overwhelming lead over Democrat political newcomer Ben Murray in his race to win a 10th term representing the 36th Assembly District in the Wisconsin Legislature.
With 71% of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Mursau, R-Crivitz, had received 14,237 votes, or 71.9% of the ballots cast, while Murray, D-Porterfield, garnered 5,558 votes (28.1%), according to unofficial results.
Mursau was first elected to the seat in 2004. This election marked just the second time in his last five general elections he faced a Democratic Party challenger for the seat, and he won with 67% of the vote in the one competitive race, in 2018.
The 36th Assembly District is one of the largest in Wisconsin, covering the central part of Oconto; all of Florence, Forest and Menominee counties; about the northern 3/4 of Marinette County; and small parts of eastern Shawano County.
