Wisconsin gets first Taco and Tequila Fest, plus champagne, martini, sangria and beer events

Wisconsin’s first Taco and Tequila Festival will be held at WBC Park in Oconomowoc June 17. The all-ages festival pairs tacos and other local Mexican cuisine with tequilas, margaritas, cervezas and non-alcoholic drinks.

Attendees receive sampling tokens with their tickets, a souvenir cup and a festival lanyard. General admission is $44 and includes four taco tokens and six alcoholic drink tokens; the non-alcoholic general admission is $34 and includes four taco tokens and three soda/water tokens. Additional taco and drink tokens will be sold at the event.

The Humane Animal Welfare Society, known as HAWS, is the charity partner for the event. The festival will make a donation to HAWS for each volunteer who helps at the event. For tickets and more information, visit tacoandtequilafestwi.com.

Champagne Festival coming to Waterford Wine

Waterford Wine & Spirits will pop champagne corks from 2 to 4 p.m. April 1 in its Milwaukee store, 2120 N. Farwell Ave. Forty champagnes and sparkling wines will be available for tasting. Tickets are $50 and can be ordered online at waterfordwine.com.

Martini Royale planned at Shrine Center

Movida putting on sangria tasting event

Movida at Hotel Madrid in Walker’s Point will host the Nickelodeon Sangria Lab on April 18. Sip sangria and learn the history of the Spanish drink with tips on crafting your own recipe with Movida’s blends of juices, syrups and spirits.

Tickets on sale for Beer Lovers Festival

General admission tickets and VIP ticket packages for the 2023 Wisconsin Beer Lovers Festival are now available.

The festival is presented by the Wisconsin Brewers Guild and will be held from noon to 5 p.m. June 17 at Bayshore, 5800 N. Bayshore Drive in Glendale. The beer and food tasting event features craft breweries from around the state, local restaurants and food trucks.

The $55 price for general admission early bird tickets will be available only through March 31. General admission tickets are $65 beginning April 1, and $75 if purchased the day of the event. Purchase online at wibrewersguild.com/wiblf

Home & Garden Show has various cooking demos

The Realtors Home & Garden Show at Wisconsin State Fair Park will feature cooking demos and instruction by chefs at the Callen Cooking Patio from March 24 through April 2.

In addition to Mad Dog & Merrill grilling tips, other regional chefs will present sessions on soulful meat alternatives, vegan cuisine, entertaining with pickles, making low-carb baked breads, homemade tomato sauce, crafting cocktails, or tossing together a shrimp and quinoa salad. Tasting samples will follow each presentation.
