Some Wisconsin, Gonzaga and KU fans proclaim their team as NCAA basketball champs

With no NCAA Tournament to determine the 2020 national champion in men’s basketball, some fans have taken the matter in their own hands.

Some Kansas fans have shared images of a banner for Allen Fieldhouse because the Jayhawks finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll.

In the Dairy State, fans believe that because Wisconsin won the Big Ten, the Badgers should get the title. The reasoning? The Big Ten was ranked as the toughest conference in the Sagarin Ratings, and Wisconsin had the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.

That conveniently overlooks two facts: Wisconsin finished in a three-way tie for the Big Ten lead (with Maryland and Michigan State) and the Badgers lost 10 games this season.

The Wisconsin men’s basketball Twitter account winked at that notion with a tweet that includes “One Shining Moment,” which is usually played after the NCAA Tournament championship game:

Some Wisconsin fans are on board with the Badgers being the NCAA champions:

However, there are KU fans, who believe the Jayhawks should get that championship and there is even a petition:

A few Gonzaga fans took note of the NCAA Net Rankings, which has their school at No. 1 and thus should be national champs:

I have a sneaking suspicion no one is going to agree on this.
