Some Wisconsin, Gonzaga and KU fans proclaim their team as NCAA basketball champs
With no NCAA Tournament to determine the 2020 national champion in men’s basketball, some fans have taken the matter in their own hands.
Some Kansas fans have shared images of a banner for Allen Fieldhouse because the Jayhawks finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll.
In the Dairy State, fans believe that because Wisconsin won the Big Ten, the Badgers should get the title. The reasoning? The Big Ten was ranked as the toughest conference in the Sagarin Ratings, and Wisconsin had the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
That conveniently overlooks two facts: Wisconsin finished in a three-way tie for the Big Ten lead (with Maryland and Michigan State) and the Badgers lost 10 games this season.
The Wisconsin men’s basketball Twitter account winked at that notion with a tweet that includes “One Shining Moment,” which is usually played after the NCAA Tournament championship game:

Some Wisconsin fans are on board with the Badgers being the NCAA champions:
As the best team in the best conference in college basketball, Wisconsin should be named your 2020 NCAA Champions. We will be taking our banners and trophies.

I’m going to go ahead and count the Wisconsin Badgers as the 19/20 NCAA college basketball national champions. Yay! pic.twitter.com/rTu7eNvugT

The NCAA should give it to us as a make-up call, literally, for 2015. This team has that team's heart, for sure.

In the absence of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, I declare the Wisconsin Badgers Champions for 2020. pic.twitter.com/Ih4naMtw6r

@BarstoolBigCat can we just go ahead and call the Wisconsin Badgers the 2020 NCAA champs?

However, there are KU fans, who believe the Jayhawks should get that championship and there is even a petition:
So KU is currently ranked #1 in the AP polls, right?
And the tourney is now cancelled, right???
Therefore, KU is your NCAA Division 1 Basketball champions. Boom, hang the banner, RCJH.— micaela gibson (@micaelalgibson) March 12, 2020
KU default champions. Hang that banner! #RockChalk https://t.co/8yFDu8yTOa

Since the tournament is cancelled, Kansas is the 2020 NCAA men’s basketball champion

A few Gonzaga fans took note of the NCAA Net Rankings, which has their school at No. 1 and thus should be national champs:
So if the Zags jumped Kansas in the NCAA NET rankings after securing the WCC title, does this mean Gonzaga is the de facto national champion? pic.twitter.com/S91rWklmKE
— Joshua Grissom (@JoshuaGNews) March 12, 2020
Gonzaga Bulldogs won the most games, therefore they are the 2020 National Champions!
— Galvatron (@GalvatronCannon) March 13, 2020
Gonzaga is your 2020 National Champions! It doesn't get more official than Wikipedia and the NCAA's #1 NET ranking agrees:https://t.co/YZwDuG7Urq pic.twitter.com/xHWy2cMBNO

Gonzaga are your 2020 NCAA men’s basketball champs!
The Bulldogs finished #1 in the NET rankings and have the best record in all of D1, finishing 31-2. pic.twitter.com/QrRK7jQteZ— College Football Quotes (@cfbquotes) March 12, 2020
The best college basketball team this year was Gonzaga University @GonzagaBulldogs. They had the most wins (31-2) and played as tough a schedule as anybody. Given no NCAA tournament, AP and other pollsters should declare Gonzaga the "national champions." Sorry Kansas.

I have a sneaking suspicion no one is going to agree on this.
