Wisconsin Herd to hold open tryouts at Oshkosh YMCA, and more news in weekly dose
OSHKOSH - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, will host an open tryout Sept. 23 at the Oshkosh 20th Avenue YMCA, 3303 W. 20th Ave. Check-in starts at 10 a.m. with tryouts at noon.
Interested players must submit the required registration form and a $250 non-refundable fee before arriving at the tryout. On-site registration will not be available.
Participation is limited to the first 75 individuals. Players must be at least 18 and will be required to complete an eligibility form and health waiver.

The public will not be admitted to watch this tryout.

Work of local architect Henry Auler focus of library program
“Henry Auler: Premiere 20th Century Oshkosh Architect” will be presented at 1 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Oshkosh Public Library, 106 Washington St. It is sponsored by the Winnebago County Historical & Archaeological Society.
Guest speaker and historic restoration professional Terry Laib of Laib Restoration will talk about Auler’s contributions, using Auler’s own files.
Some of the buildings Auler designed include the Fraternal Reserve Association, the Fraternal Reserve Association and Wisconsin National Life Insurance Co.

Red Cross needs blood, platelet donors
The American Red Cross continues to hold local blood drives to keep hospitals stocked.
Individuals who are 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in general good health may be eligible to donate blood. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required.
The next local blood drive will be 1 to 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at Qamar Mosque, 300 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh.

Shred event offered Sept. 9 at Bank First
Bank First will host a free shred event 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 9 at 1159 N. Koeller St. Participants are asked to take a non-perishable food donation in exchange for each bag of documents to be shredded. Donations will go to local food pantries.
All types of sensitive documentation will be accepted for shredding, including old tax returns, bank and credit card statements, medical records, etc. The mobile shredding unit will be provided by Confidential Records.
Businesses are asked to not participate.
