KENOSHA, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin man with eight warrants out for his arrest was finally taken into custody after a traffic stop led to a K9 discovering five bags of heroin on Monday.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Fritz and a deputy stopped a vehicle on January 22 in the 7600 block of Interstate 94 for a broken headlight.

When the vehicle finally decided to pull over, the driver lied about his name to the deputy. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office says this was likely due to him having eight active warrants for his arrest and a revoked driver’s license.

Through the investigation, five individual baggies of heroin/fentanyl mix were located. In total, 10.7 grams were seized thanks to the excellent work of K9 Fritz. The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Cody T. Zadoka from Jefferson, was taken into custody.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement surrounding the increased presence of fentanyl, saying, “Fentanyl truly is everywhere in our community. It is being mixed with other substances and [has a] devastating impact on our community members. Please be aware that what individuals are selling may not actually be what you believe it to be and could have fentanyl in it.”
