Wisconsin vs. Ohio State: How to watch, what to know about the women's national championship hockey game

DULUTH, Minn. – The words of day for the Wisconsin women’s hockey team Saturday were rest and recovery.

One day after beating Minnesota in an overtime in a semifinal at the Frozen Four, the Badgers passed on their allotted ice time at AMSOIL Arena in favor of giving their bodies a break.

UW coach Mark Johnson took a similar approach when his team won the title two years ago.

“A bunch of them played a bunch of minutes last night,” he said. “I know as a former player sometimes you get sick and tired of putting your equipment on. We’ll find out tomorrow during the game what kind of energy we have. I’m sure it will be real high. It should be a fun game to watch.”

Wisconsin (28-10-2) faces Ohio State (33-5-2) in the national championship game at 3 p.m. Sunday at AMSOIL Arena.

While the Badgers will be coming off their most intense win of the season, the Buckeyes, who did practice Saturday, won its semifinal over Northeastern in dominating fashion, outshooting the Huskies, 53-15, in a 3-0 victory.

"In my seven years of coaching the Buckeyes yesterday’s game was probably the most elite I’ve seen this team play as a complete unified front,” Ohio State coach Nadine Muzerall said. “I’m excited they’re gaining momentum at the right point.”

Here is what you need to know about the game.
