Wisconsin women's hockey team lose fourth straight game, fall in overtime to defending national champion Ohio State
The Wisconsin women’s hockey team suffered another tough loss Friday.
The Badgers fell, 2-1, in overtime to top-ranked Ohio State in front of a crowd of 680 at the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio. Senior Sophie Jaques scored the game-winner with 19 seconds left in overtime off a pass from senior Emma Maltais.
The loss was the fourth straight for Wisconsin, which is ranked No. 8 in the USCHO.com poll and fifth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine ranking. The Badgers (16-6-1, 12-4-1 WCHA) have not scored more than one goal in any game during the streak.
Wisconsin took a first-period lead on an even-strength goal from sophomore Lacey Eden off passes from seniors Britta Curl and Natalie Buchbinder at the 17-minute mark.
Ohio State tied the game seven minutes later off a goal from senior Paetyn Levis.
UW senior Cami Kronish finished with 34 saves for the Badgers, who will play the second game of the series at 2 p.m. Saturday.
