A first look at The Witcher's Emma Appleton in new thriller series The Killing Kind has been revealed.

Paramount+ has shared a pair of intense images of Appleton and her co-star Colin Morgan as Ingrid Lewis and John Webster, involved in a cat-and-mouse chase on London's Southbank.

In the drama, which is based on the novel of the same name by Jane Casey, Appleton plays top-flight barrister Ingrid, who's used to dealing with high-profile clients. She throws caution to the wind when she meets Webster, her latest client, and the pair get dangerously close while working on the case.

After winning the case, Ingrid tries to rebuild her life, but with the sudden death of her mentor Belinda Grey (Sarah Powell) and John returning to her life to wreak havoc, will she be able to move on?

"I'm just surrounded by an incredible team of talent both on and off-screen," Appleton said in a statement. "Ingrid is a compelling character and working out her complexities as we go deeper into the story is fascinating."

As for Morgan, the actor thinks Southbank is the perfect background for Ingrid and John's confrontation.

"Southbank has set the tone perfectly and these scenes which Emma and I are filming will simply weave in yet another layer of brilliantly complicated context to Ingrid and Webster's backstory," she added.

An official release date is still yet to be confirmed, but The Killing Kind also stars Doctor Who's Elliot Barnes-Worrell as Ingrid's ex-fiance Mark Orpen, Strike's Kerr Logan as DS Luke Nash and A spy Among Friends' Nicholas Rowe as Belinda's husband and Head of Chambers, Angus Grey.

The Killing Kind will be available in the UK on Paramount+.

The Witcher seasons 1-2 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 3 is in production. Spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin is also streaming on Netflix.
