Withers Recruits Disputes Partners in Hong Kong, Singapore

Hong Kong

Withers has hired dispute resolution partners in Hong Kong and Singapore, hiring them away from Baker McKenzie and Morgan Lewis.

Soo Khim Keoy joins the Hong Kong office from Baker McKenzie, bringing with him two associates. He focuses on multi-jurisdictional corporate, commercial and insolvency disputes.

He joined Baker McKenzie in 2007 and made partner in 2016. He previously practiced at DLA Piper and Clyde & Co.

Withers launched in Hong Kong in 2008 and has mostly focused on wealth planning and family law matters, though in July 2017 the firm expanded its corporate capability by recruiting a three-partner corporate team from Winston & Strawn.

Amarjit Kaur joins the firm's formal Singapore law alliance, Withers KhattarWong, from Morgan Lewis Stamford, where she was a Singapore-based associate. Kaur focuses on high-value and complex litigation and international arbitration matters.

Withers and Singapore firm KhattarWong entered into a Formal Law Alliance in February 2015, allowing the British firm access to Singaporean law advice, including litigation, via the Singaporean firm side.

Before joining Morgan Lewis Stamford in 2012, Kaur had stints at leading Singaporean firms WongPartnership and Drew & Napier.

Elsewhere in Asia, Withers recently expanded its Tokyo office with a nine-lawyer team, transforming the office from one with only a tax offering to a full law office with multiple practice areas.
