WIU board approves $204.1 M spending plan

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL — At the June 10 Board of Trustees meeting, trustees approved the University's Fiscal Year 2023 preliminary spending plan of $204.1 million. The plan must be prepared prior to July 1 for submission to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the Illinois State Legislature and the Governor.

In other business, the Board approved tenure for six faculty members (see separate letter at wiu.edu/news from President Huang); the FY23 student health insurance fee; and the Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs) with the University Professionals of Illinois Local 4100.

In addition, the Board elected officers for July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. Doug Shaw was elected chair, Erik Dolieslager was elected vice chair and Kisha Lang was elected secretary. Outgoing Student Trustee Kinsey Tiemann was recognized for her service. Cody Cornell, a junior agriculture major from Columbia (IL), was elected by the student body to serve as Western's Board of Trustees student representative from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held Sept 22-23 on the WIU-Quad Cities campus. A Board retreat will be held Oct. 20 in the University Union Heritage Room on the Macomb campus.
