Wolfpack boys, girls roll up pins at Hellgate
Jan. 4—MISSOULA — The Glacier Wolfpack piled up four pins and a technical fall, and cruised to a 65-6 dual wrestling win over Missoula Hellgate Tuesday.
The Wolfpack girls won four of five matches, three by pin, to outscore the Knights 22-6 as well.
Aiden Sweat (103), Teegan Vasquez (132), Mark Ahner (160) and Chase Hazlett (285) all picked up pins, though Hazlett put in more time than his three teammates put together: He scored his fall in 7 minutes, 51 seconds — in the second overtime — against Hellgate's Jayden Friesen.
The match was tied at 2-2 at the time.
"It was fun to see some of our JV guys compete hard tonight at the varsity level," Glacier coach Ross Danker said. "Great way to start off the new year. I feel like we had a really good winter break of practices. We were able to put in a bunch of technique and get ourselves ready for a good second part of the season."
Seth Doolan got the technical fall at 145 for the Pack, who's next action is this weekend at the Pacific Northwest Classic in Spokane.
Ariana Conklin (114), Jessalyn Hewitt (126) and Madisyn Frazier (152) all scored pins for the Wolfpack girls; Frazier and Conklin got theirs in 16 seconds.
