Wolves place second at South Kitsap wrestling invitational

The battle for the team title at Saturday's South Kitsap boys wrestling invitational in Port Orchard saw the top three teams finish less than five points apart.

In the end, the host Wolves settled for second place after crowing three individual champions: Stone Hartford, Mitchell Neiner and Phil Chobot.

Tahoma finished in the top spot in the 10-team tournament, totaling 189 points. South Kitsap took second with 186.5 points, followed by Lake Stevens (184.5), Rogers (163), Bremerton (127), Kelso (117.5), Auburn Riverside (89.5), Peninsula (66), Kentlake (59) and Cedarcrest (43).

Hartford followed up a first-round bye with a pair of second-round pins, the second coming against Rogers' Dylan Thompson in the 120-pound finals. Neiner earned wins by major decision and technical fall before pinning Tahoma's Cyrus Comia in the second round of the 132-pound finals. At 190 pounds, Chobot recorded a pin and a pair of shutout wins, including a 9-0 victory over Rogers' Michael Ager in the finals.

Bremerton brothers Thor and Lars Michaelson secured titles for the Knights. Thor Michaelson scored a 6-3 victory over Lake Stevens' Wyatt Springer in the 160-pound title match, while Lars Michaelson defeated Tahoma's Chris Neal 18-7.

Third-place finishers included Gabe Riddle (120) of Bremerton, and South Kitsap's Brayden Shook (138) and Gabe Fragoso (170) of South Kitsap.

Cougars win End of Days tourney

Central Kitsap's boys wrestling team finished first among 14 teams at Saturday's End of Days tournament at Lakes. Earning individual titles were Conrad Bellon at 120 pounds, Quinn Lawrence at 126 and Chris Cartagena at 152.

Third-place finishers included Tristyn Nelson (113), Carter Chadwick (120), Levi Beebe (132), Caiden Guelcher (145) and Teich Lawrence.

Central Kitsap's Savannah Sinclair placed first at 100 pounds and Daytona Stoner took third at 115 at Saturday's Lady Lipstick tournament at Lakes.
