Woman, 39, killed in possible DUI rollover crash on SR-78

RAMONA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A woman was killed in a rollover, DUI crash near Ramona Monday night, according to California Highway Patrol.

The solo-vehicle incident occurred after 6:45 p.m. on State Route 78, just west of Earlham Street.

According to CHP, the woman was traveling eastbound in a 2020 Honda Civic when the vehicle veered off the north side of the roadway. The Civic then struck a large rock and a tree before rolling down an embankment where it came to a rest on its roof against a chain link fence.

One person dead in daycare playground car crash

The woman, identified as a 39-year-old woman from Ramona, was the sole occupant of the vehicle during the crash, CHP said. She sustained major injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel.

Details about what led up to the crash remain under investigation at this time, although authorities say driving under the influence is believed to be a factor.
