Woman, 67, riding e-bike dies after Bronx crash with SUV driver

A 67-year-old e-bike rider died after getting into a crash with an SUV driver in the Bronx, police said Tuesday.

The victim was riding down E. 188th St. in Belmont when the e-bike and a Ford Escape driven by a 63-year-old man collided at Park Ave. about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 23, cops said. She was thrown from her e-bike and run over by the SUV’s front and rear driver’s side tires, cops said.

Medics rushed her to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she died the next day. Her death was reported to police Tuesday. Cops did not immediately release the victim’s name as they track down her family members.

The SUV driver was making a right turn from E. 188th St. on to Park Ave. when he collided with the e-bike rider, who was zipping along the sidewalk before entering the crosswalk, cops said.

The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged.
