Woman accused of beating 13-year-old at school bus stop

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police said a 13-year-old boy was trying to protect his younger brother when he was attacked by a woman at a school bus stop in North Memphis.

It happened back in December, but Rniya Criss, 25, was booked in the Shelby County Jail Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault and child abuse and neglect.

The victim said he was standing at a school bus stop on North Merton with his 7-year-old brother when Criss showed up with her 7-year-old son to fight his brother.

The teen said when he told Criss his brother wasn’t going to fight anyone, she began hitting him in the face.

He said Criss knocked him to the ground and continued to kick him in the face and neck.

Criss is scheduled to go before a judge on Thursday.
