Woman dies after leg amputation in Lake Pleasant boating accident

A 32-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a boat propeller at Lake Pleasant, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday.

The victim, who authorities identified as 32-year-old Tehanah Smith, was airlifted to the hospital Saturday evening after her leg was amputated in a boating accident, officials said.

Deputies responded to the "single boat accident" in the north area of Lake Pleasant at approximately 5 p.m.

According to officials, there were no signs of impairment or foul play involved in the accident.

An investigation remains ongoing. Further details surrounding the incident were not released.

This accident follows at least four other emergency incidents that took place at Lake Pleasant within the last five weeks.
