Woman arrested after car plows into Fayetteville Chipotle, injuring several, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman was arrested after Fayetteville police say she crashed her car into a Chipotle restaurant Saturday evening, injuring at least four people.

The incident was reported just after 7:35 p.m. at Chipotle Mexican Grill at 4715 Ramsey St., according to Sunday news releases from the Fayetteville Police Department and the Fayetteville Fire Department.

A woman driving a black Chevrolet Malibu smashed the car into the restaurant twice and then sped off before police arrived, two witnesses told CBS 17.

Fire officials said four people were taken to an area hospital by EMS crews and witnesses said four other people suffered injuries that were treated at the scene.

When police arrived at the scene, they obtained surveillance video that showed a driver crashing a car into the dining room of the restaurant before fleeing, a news release Sunday said.

Police said an investigation led them to the 1900 block of Bain Drive, where they found the car involved in the crash — a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu.

“The car exhibited significant front-end damage and was still coated in glass from the restaurant,” officers said in the news release.

Black was arrested and charged with careless and reckless driving, misdemeanor hit and run (four counts) and failure to reduce speed, police said. She received a $2,500 secured bond.
