Woman arrested after students report she pulled out gun at school bus stop
A Bloomington woman faces an intimidation charge after reportedly displaying a handgun at an MCCSC bus stop while children were waiting for their ride to school.
When questioned by police, she admitted owning a gun like the one witnesses desribed, but denied having it with her during the bus stop confrontation.
The incident happened about 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at the Limestone Crossing bus stop in the 500 block of South Basswood Drive. Police say it resulted from an ongoing verbal dispute between two Tri-North Middle School students that had escalated to threats of physical harm.

A police report says one of the girls called her mother at 7:04 am., after boarding the school bus, and said the other girl's stepmother had approached the bus stop and yelled at her.
A Bloomington High School North senior who intervened, asking the woman to calm down, said the 34-year-old then displayed a gun but didn't point it at anyone. Others at the bus stop reported seeing the gun as well.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, the suspect "pulled out a small, black handgun from her sweatpants pocket, displaying it as she said that if they put their hands on her daughter, they will see what happens. When the bus arrived, she put the gun back into her pocket and left the complex in a white or silver vehicle."
Thursday night, police arrested Taleah Joe Vaught, 34, whose address is in the 500 block of Basswood Drive, on a warrant charging her with felony intimidation. Her bond was set at $5,500.
