Woman Burns Headscarf in Front of Iranian Consulate in Istanbul

A woman held up a burned headscarf in front of the Iranian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday, September 21, to protest the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish woman in Tehran while in the custody of Iran’s so-called morality police.

According to the Twitter post, the protester yelled, “women are killed for this in my country,” as she held the burned headscarf.

Protests have erupted across Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini, who was arrested for allegedly breaking the country’s strict dress code for women. Credit: journalistpanda/dokuz8haber via Storyful
