Woman captures video of Amish man skiing behind horse and buggy

DES MOINES, Iowa – Let's be brutally honest: This winter has been rough on the Midwest. And with more snow coming in the days ahead, there's no relief in sight.

While many have taken to social media to complain about the frigid weather, one Iowa woman captured video of someone making the most of the snowy conditions.

Jennifer Staggemeyer of Wakon, Iowa, was returning home Sunday after visiting Minneapolis-St. Paul. She was in the passenger seat and managed to get her phone up just in time to record an Amish Iowa man skiing alongside the road, pulled by a horse and buggy that seemingly had no driver.

"I first thought when I saw them up ahead that they were stuck in the ditch," Staggemeyer told KWWL TV in Waterloo, Iowa.

The man handled drifts on the side of the road like an expert as his well-trained horse kept up a swift pace near Harmony, Minnesota. Harmony is less than 10 miles north of the Iowa state line.
