Woman charged in fatal shooting outside Florissant hotel

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A woman is in custody following a fatal shooting outside a hotel along Interstate 270 in Florissant.

According to the Florissant Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened Sunday, April 7, at the Quality Inn on Dunn Road.

Police claim Lateara D. Martin shot Manuel L. Gee in the parking lot. Surveillance video shows Martin walking outside the hotel with a gun in her hand. She fires a round into the air while approaching Gee, who puts his hands up and begins backing away. Martin got closer and shot Gee in the head one time before walking back into the hotel.

Police claim Martin threatened another hotel occupant the day prior while the two were in an elevator.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Martin with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.
