Woman charged after man shot to death in South Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 43-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a man found shot at a South Nashville gas station in November 2023.

According to investigators, 34-year-old Joshua White was found after he drove his bright yellow Hyundai Veloster into the parking lot of a BP gas station on Old Hickory Boulevard and Eulala Drive.

While in the parking lot, White allegedly exited the vehicle and told a passerby that he was shot before collapsing to the ground. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Detectives checked surveillance footage at the gas station and streets nearby, which is how officers found multiple witnesses who said White was shot while leaving Benzing Road, according to court documents.

Metro police reported text messages recovered from a witness’ phone on Jan. 9 contained multiple messages from Ada Kirby that implicated herself in the shooting. The motive remains under investigation.

Kirby was booked into the Metro jail on Thursday, Feb. 1 and charged with criminal homicide, officials said. Her bond was set at $270,000.
