Woman in critical condition after vehicle crash near Camp Erdman

Jan. 25—A 43-year-old woman was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash near Camp Erdman Tuesday.

Honolulu police said a vehicle driven by the woman was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when the vehicle, for unknown reasons, veered off the road and into a ditch at about 2:45 p.m.

The vehicle caught fire in the ditch. Passing motorists managed to get the woman out of the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.

The driver sustained serious injuries to her head and burns to her lower extremities. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services personnel administered life-saving treatment and took her in critical condition to a hospital.

Police said speed was not a factor in the crash. It's unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors at this time.
