A woman died and three young boys were injured in a three-car crash in the area of 38th Street and Greenway Road early Saturday.

Officers responded to the scene at about 12:30 a.m. where they learned that a man driving a black Ford SUV collided with a red Nissan sedan occupied by a man, woman and three young boys.

There was a second crash involving the black SUV and a red Honda sedan occupied by a man.

According to Phoenix Police Department, the adult female passenger of the Nissan sedan was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The young boys were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The man driving the Ford SUV was processed on suspicion of DUI and released, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Police did not release any additional information.
