Woman dies in accident at festival for Winnebago enthusiasts in Iowa

A Minnesota woman died after she was crushed by a trailer while at the Camp Winnebago Rally in Forest City.

On July 16 at approximately 6:50 p.m., 76-year-old Joyce Engstrom was inside a two-axle trailer that was being pulled by a truck when it unhooked and began rolling downhill. According to the accident report, officials believe Engstrom either jumped or fell out and was then run over by the rear tire.

The trailer came to a stop at the bottom of the hill, according to the report, and had to be lifted off of Engstrom.

She was taken by helicopter to Mercyone North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City but later died of her injuries.

Formerly known as the Grand National Rally, Camp Winnebago Rally is an annual festival for Winnebago brand RV owners that features entertainment, seminars and tours of the company's factory in Forest City.
