Woman dies after colliding with tractor in Buttonwillow area

Nov. 6—A Bakersfield woman was killed Monday morning when the car she was driving on northbound Rowlee Road hit the back of a tractor in the Buttonwillow area.

A California Highway Patrol news release said the unidentified 21-year-old in a 2016 Nissan Sentra failed to slow down for a John Deere tractor traveling in the same direction at about 20 mph on Rowlee south of Burbank Street.

It said she died at the scene after the front of her car hit the tractor's rear backhoe bucket at about 6:54 a.m.

The driver of the tractor, 33-year-old Victor Duarte Lopez, suffered minor injuries, according to the release, which added that alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.
