Woman dies in Colorado National Monument hiking accident

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A 41-year-old woman died Wednesday morning after falling while hiking in the Colorado National Monument.

Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies and rescue volunteers responded to the area of Rough Canyon Lemon Squeezer at around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. The 911 caller said the woman fell 50-60 feet. Grand Junction firefighters performed life-saving measures, but she did not survive.

No official cause of death or identity is available at this time.
