Woman dies, teens recovering after four shot in car Monday in Spring Lake

A woman shot Monday evening in Spring Lake has died, according to a news release Tuesday afternoon from the Spring Lake Police Department.

Angela Gwyn, 42, of Cameron, was shot multiple times and was later pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, the release said.

According to police, Gwyn and three teens were shot while in a vehicle in the 200 block of South Sixth Street.

Chief Dysoaneik Spellman said that following the shooting, officers found the victims about 7:45 p.m. in the vehicle near Fifth and Parker streets, about a half mile from the scene of the shooting. The teens' injuries were described as non-life-threatening. Their names were not released.

"This incident does not appear to be random and there was no threat to the community," the release said. "The incident remains an active investigation and additional information relating to this incident will be released later."
