Woman faces charges after allegedly hitting pedestrian with car

Apr. 15—A Beaver Meadows woman was recently arraigned after Hazleton police say she hit a pedestrian Feb. 6.

Ashley M. Paulshock, 35, was charged with accidents involving personal injury and summary violations for driving with a suspended license and careless driving. The charges were filed against her Feb. 26 and she was released on $35,000 unsecured bail April 5 by Magisterial District Judge Joseph Zola, Hazleton.

According to arrest papers:

Hazleton police found a man lying near the centerline in the 300 block of South Poplar Street, bleeding from his head and face. A city officer and a West Hazleton officer controlled the bleeding as they waited for an ambulance.

Paulshock was near the crash site and admitted to hitting the man with the white Honda Civic she was driving. She said she didn't see him. As police investigated, they learned Paulshock's license was suspended.

The man was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton and transported by ambulance to Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Twp., where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. He underwent two surgeries for a broken right leg and required orthopedic reconstruction. His nose was broken and he had cuts and scrapes.
