A woman bravely fought off a stranger who ambushed her in a Bronx stairwell and tried to rape her, cops said Sunday.
The 33-year-old victim was walking up the stairs in an apartment building on Grand Concourse near E 196th St. when the sicko grabbed her from behind and tried to rape her about 7 p.m. Friday, police said.
As he was unzipping his pants, the woman bit his right hand, sending the rapist running away, police said.
He has not been caught.
The woman was uninjured but taken by medics to North Central Bronx Hospital for an evaluation, police said.
Cops released surveillance video of the suspect Sunday and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.
The suspect is described as in his 20 1/4 u2032s with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket, black winter hat, black pants with white stripes on the side, and black shoes.
