Another day, another story of body shaming.

This time it was 24 year old Jes Ortelli from Brighton, United Kingdom. While shopping for a new bathing suit at Matalan, a British clothing shop, she overheard another customer in the fitting room say that “girls like [her]” shouldn’t be wearing a bikini.

Outraged, she snapped a picture of herself in the suit and posted it on Facebook.

“I don’t usually post such pictures of myself on Facebook however what happened today should be shared to raise some awareness,” she says in the post.

“The girl at the store today said that ‘girls like me’ shouldn’t wear a bikini,” she goes on to say. “Well girl let me tell you something.”

She then goes on the say that’s she’s happy with her body – “biiiigggg tummy with tiger stripes” and all. But what really frustrates her is that this could have been said to someone who was struggling with weight issues and was finally putting themselves out there and had the courage to even try on a bikini.

“You just killed her confidence with one stupid comment,” she says. “You can be any size and look good! Confidence is what makes you sexy and not just being a size 6!”

She then thanks the girl who made the comment saying, “Thank you for fat shaming me. Thanks to you I got an awesome discount on my bikini.”

“Show them what you’re made of! Beauty is not calculated on dress sizes but the size of your heart… And you needed a lot of body to make sure you cover that big heart of yours!” said one commenter.

“Well said Jess, proud of you! the most important thing is that you feel comfortable in your own skin and even if you don’t she doesn’t have the right to say anything cruel to you!” said another.
