Woman Follows Manatee in Florida After Initially Being Spooked by It
A woman bathing in the waters of Indian Rocks Beach, near Tampa, Florida, on September 2, initially fled from a manatee swimming close to the shore, but then followed it, drone footage shows.
Video of the event was captured by local resident Michael McCarthy of See Through Canoe, who was capturing footage of manatees when he noticed the encounter.
Speaking to Storyful, McCarthy said, “The manatee swam up to a few different people to check them out, as manatees are very curious and friendly.”
He added, “This woman’s reaction was the best. She was very respectful and didn’t attempt to touch it or anything. I’m sure it was a magical experience that she will never forget.” Credit: See Through Canoe via Storyful
