Woman found dead on Manhattan Beach

A lifeguard made a grisly discovery Friday morning on Manhattan Beach when a woman was found dead on the sand.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department was dispatched to The Strand in the area between the pier and 15th Street at 6:40 a.m. Friday after receiving a call from a man saying his girlfriend was missing.
Police say the male caller and his friends tried searching for the woman but were unable to locate her, which led to a missing person investigation being launched.
Police say lifeguard found the woman’s body around 10:30 a.m.
Officials have not released any details about her age or cause of death and her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Strand and bike path were closed between the pier and 15th Street for approximately two hours during the investigation, but both have since reopened.
